You will now be able to watch American Idol contestants right on your iPhone and iPod touch gadgets. The first ever American Idol application for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch is out there.

"American Idol Season 8 Exclusive," the American Idol application for iPhone and iPod touch was officially introduced by FremantleMedia Enterprises and Zumobi on Tuesday.

The $1.99 app will follow the top 13 finalists of American Idol season 8. It will fetch exclusive multimedia content and news updates from American Idol to iPhone and iPod touch devices. With the application, the users will be able to view contestant profiles, images, news, and exclusive videos from behind-the-scenes. The users will also be able to watch 78 original videos of the remaining contestants that will be released weekly between now and the Finale.
