KFC Australia to Remove Toys from Kids Menu

KFC Australia has recognized the depth of the problem that there is an enormous increase in the number of obesity cases in children, and therefore, they have announced that they would not provide toys in their children menu. The ruling is applicable for all of their 600 stores.

The decision would harm their business, but KFC corporate affairs manager Zac Rich said their idea of giving toys with meals had its day and now it’s time to move on. The announcement of the decision came after three years of the declaration that they would stop advertising their kids menu.

It is a right thing to do as childhood obesity is at an alarming rate, with one in four kids obese. And if the trend remains like that then it is expected that 65% young Australians would be obsessed by 2020.

Mr. Rich feels it to be the right move: "We hope this decision today will support parents in making dietary decisions on behalf of their children which are not influenced in any way by pressure to choose the meal that has a toy”.

The decision of the KFC would be a pleasant move for the company as they would now introduce more of nutritious products in their food line.
