Gratifying Sex Life Results in Healthy Life: Study
Sex Life

Even at the age of 80, a gratifying sex life can result in healthy living, state the researchers from the University of California, San Diego.

The researchers studied 1,235 women participating in the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) study program. The research aimed at understanding the influence of sexual gratification with ageing. Around 61% of the women in their
80s accepted that they had been living a sexually gratified life.

The researchers found that the sexual gratification level at the different age levels, that is from 60 to 69years, 70 to 79years and 80 to 89 years, were almost same irrespective to the aspects like awakening of emotions, performance while having sex, that deteriorated with age.

Around 70% women in their 80s accepted of having negligible sexual relations in past 6 months, whereas 57% of the women in 70s accepted the same. The researchers state that with age the ability to have sex declines, but enjoying even the negligible level of sexual activity in old age leads to a contended life.

As per Wesley K Thompson, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the study's co-lead author, "Although the levels of sexual activity and functioning did vary significantly, depending on the woman's age, their perceived quality of life, successful ageing and sexual satisfaction remained positive”.
