MeeHive, the new product launched by Kosmix - the company involved in producing informational pages on several subjects – aims at bringing a much-enhanced dimension to the entire news-reading experience!
An attention-grabbing cross between Google Reader, Google News, and social news sites like socialmedian, MeeHive is a comprehensive display of the Kosmix technology at work. The Mountain View, California-based company has already bagged a $20 million funding earlier this year.
Providing a ‘packaged’ advantage over the other sites, MeeHive works like Google Reader for day-to-day news; like Google News for complete information on any one topic; like news aggregator Techmeme for the current tech headlines; and even like the microblogging service, Twitter, for sharing and commenting on articles!
Meeting the multi-purpose needs of avid news readers, MeeHive operates in such a way that the when a topic is entered, the readers are led to a personalized home page, which displays a list of “top stories” across varied interests, along with sections where specific topics can be focused upon.
Though the economic crisis may be some sort of a damper at present, MeeHive also offers ample business opportunities, leading to well-targeted advertising, especially when a specific topic is extensively searched!
According to Kosmix founder Anand Rajamaran, future improvements in MeeHive would include increased customization for readers.
