Zimbabwe President Calls for a Conference on HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS awareness meeting HAS BEEN called by the President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, in order to encourage people to take some safety measures so as to avoid the contraction of the disease.

The meeting will be conducted for 4 days, where the President will discuss about the incurable disease of HIV, its sufferers and the need to take some serious action against the deadly disease. The main aim of the conference will be to discuss measures in order to prevent the transfer of the disease from mother to child.

In Zimbabwe, 15,000 infants get contracted with the disease of HIV/AIDS. In the wake of the increasing contraction one aim enlisted in the 2015 Millennium Development Goals of Zimbabwe is to reduce the transfer of disease from mother to child to 5% from the mark of 25%.

National Director Lindiwe Chaza-Jangira of the Zimbabwe AIDS Network appreciated the initiative taken by President Mugabe, for taking the lead role as a male in the fight against HIV.

It is the dishonor attached to the occurrence of the disease among expecting mothers that forces them to hide the fact, which thereby leads to transfer of the disease to the infants, reveals the operations director for the HIV/AIDS Zimbabwe Charity, Elizabeth Mazhetese.
