Three States to Investigate For Listeria Outbreak

The recent outbreak of Listeria has spread investigation in three states. There was the death of one person in this outbreak and the health officials are now on the outlook for the reasons for the spread of the disease.

It was revealed by the Colorado Department of Public health that there were as many as 9 confirmed cases of the infection of gastrointestinal section of the body. All these suspected patients are currently undergoing treatment, and they had contracted the disease after the consumption of cantaloupe.

It was revealed by Chris Urbina, the Chief Medical Officer of the vicinity, that they haven’t yet been able to trace where those infected melons had been sold and investigation for the same was underway.

"While the investigation into the source of the Listeria outbreak is continuing, it is prudent for people who are at high risk for Listeria infection to avoid consumption of cantaloupe”, said Urbina.

He was further of the view that people most likely to be affected by this infection are children, adults above the age of 60 years, mothers-to-be and those people who have a weak immune system.

People now need to be careful about the presence of infections around them and take the necessary precautions for the same.
