SpongeBob Squarepants Making Children Lazy

It has been revealed according to a recent study that watching SpongeBob Squarepants tends to make preschoolers lethargic and slow thinkers.

It might be one of the loveliest and oldest running cartoons that have kept children hooked on to it for years and years, but scientists are of the view that it is doing more harm than good to children. The truth is that watching fast -paced cartoons is harmful for the thinking levels of the children. The child psychologists are of the view that the short term impulse control as well as short term memory of the child can be hampered due to these cartoons.

This research was conducted at the University of Virginia and the head of the team was Angeline Lilliard. This random test that was conducted on 60 children of the age of four years revealed that the ones who watched too nay fast-paced cartoons, had lower level of thinking and reacting as compared to their peers who were more into outdoor activities.

These kids couldn't fare too well in simple tests like solving puzzles, back counting and so on. Parents must take care of what their children watch on the television, especially at this tender age, because this adds to their overall growth in the early years of life.
