Nestle Introduces ‘Not So Healthy’ Fruity Gums

It's a treat for those loving flavors like orange, blackcurrant, strawberry, lemon and lime. Nestle has introduced 12 fruit gums in different flavors. Each fruit tube has 17 chews, and is made of natural fruit extracts but that does not mean that one could have them alone instead of consuming fruit.

Spokesperson for Nestle was of the view that it is ok to have one a while as a part of teat but not as a substitute to fruit or vegetable. This statement came when Health Department blamed the company for encouraging people to consume these fruity flavored gums.

There is a sound reason behind it, as these sugary chews would only give benefit of a portion of fruit if all 12 packs are consumed. This means consumption of 1955 calories: just 45 more and women are done for the day as women daily consumption of calories are 2000. These sugary treats also contain 438.36 grams of carbohydrate which if not mistaken, then double the said amount.

Fruit gums boast of 25% natural extracted juice and rest is preservatives, dollops of sugar to make it yummy with double the amount of prescribed carbohydrates.
