Yahoo rolled out a new Facebook app and Firefox add-on for its location-based service (LBS) Fire Eagle on Friday. Yahoo stated its new Facebook app for Fire Eagle and the Firefox updater for Fire Eagle will help enhance the utility of its Fire Eagle service.  

According to Yahoo, its new Facebook app, dubbed as Friends on Fire, will help integrating its location-based blogging platform, Fire Eagle with the social networking site. It will help Facebook users to share their locations and short messages with friends.

The Friends on Fire Facebook app is an interesting and easy-to-set up application. With the Friends on Fire application, the users can find easily find their friends’ locations. The app will definitely help enhancing the usage of Yahoo’s Fire Eagle, as Facebook has nearly 200 million users worldwide. 

In a blog post, Tom Coates and Yahoo's technology development group, wrote, "We give you control over how much you choose to share with these different applications as well. You can choose to share your cross- street or your country, you can hide yourself from everyone and- of course-you can change your preferences at any time."

Yahoo’s new Fire Eagle Updater add-on for Firefox facilitates to update users’ location. The new Fire Eagle Firefox add-on will help to update users’ location-using services like WiFi positioning, as well as share their locations with other sites that request it via the W3C's new Geolocation Specification.

Coates wrote, It "adds a button to your toolbar [so] with one click, your location is instantly shared with your trusted friends on your favorite services".
