Disney's Race to Witch Mountain bewitches US audiences

Los Angeles  - Disney's new live action film Race to Witch Mountain cast its spell on US audiences over the weekend to top the box office charts.

The adventure movie about a taxi driver and two teenagers, who want to save the world and are being pursued by the government, gangsters and aliens, earned 25 million dollars.

Watchmen landed in second place. The superhero flick directed by Zak Snyder made 18.1 million dollars, falling 67 per cent from its opening of 55.7 million dollars just last week.

Horror film remake The Last House on the Left took in 14.7 million dollars for third place in its opening weekend. The top five was rounded out by Taken (6.7 million dollars) and Madea Goes to Jail (5.1 million dollars). (dpa)
