Avastin Has More Side Effects than Benefits

The status of Avastin, a chemotherapy drug used for the treatment of breast cancer, is still undecided and prevailing situations show that majority of votes are against the use of Avastin.

The studies conducted in 2008 has shown that Avastin is effective and do not have any side effects, at least this is the statement made by a breast cancer patient who was benefitted by the drug. Henceforth, she demands that the U. S. Food and Drug Administration should support the drug, which is currently against its use.

The FDA was of the view that it was not the first time that they have listened to above given incident but they could not allow usage of the drug as doctors and other medical experts have revealed that the drug has great aftermath’s side effects. On many cases, doctors have also found the drug to non-effective. Major side effects of the drug are cardiac arrest, development of holes in the body which could also include stomach and intestine.

Initially, it was thought to decline the growth of cancer by 5.5 months, but when advanced study was conducted it was revealed that drug is not effective more than 3 months and was helpless to increase the life expectancy of affected women.
