Numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have really astonished many people because the figures are easily lying between 1.6 million 3.8 million, including children as well as adults who are today suffering from sports or recreation related concussions. Concerns of the concerned authorities have grown bigger post noticing that the number of the affected cases is increasing with each passing day.
To control the rising figures, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, which is the governing body for high school sports in the state, has decided to make some alterations in its concussion policy from this season onwards.
There are also reports that the new plans are very much similar to the law, which was passed by New Jersey Gov. Mr. Chris Christie in context to same, nine months ago. The earlier plan suggested: “it is important that an athlete must receive written clearance from a physician trained in the evaluation and management of concussions to return to competition or practice”.
According to the December bill signed by Christie, it was made mandatory for all New Jersey public and private school district coaches to take immediate action or even disqualify any athlete from play in case they find any sign of concussion.
