Good News for Paralysis Patients

Soon the patients suffering from paralysis will be able to control their activities through their thoughts alone as the scientists from the Duke University Center have created virtual arms which can be controlled through the vibes coming from brain.

The virtual arm thus created could help patients in feeling the surface of the substance. Following the invention of the virtual arms, the scientists are of the opinion that a robotic structure could be developed using the same technique.

Paralysis is a lethal disease which lefts a person incapable of moving one’s body part. It is hoped that this technology will help the patients suffering from paralysis to enjoy life from a new perspective. The scientists are hopeful that technology will be made available for the use by 2014.

A test over the monkey, using the virtual arms, has already been conducted. The scientists are now looking at the various advantages of using the technology upon the paralysis patient. If the technology proves successful then it would bring a ray hope to the families whose members have been suffering long from the disease. It has been informed that full robotic structure would be build under the supervision of Miguel Nicolelis, a researcher from the Duke University in North Carolina.
