The Health Editor of The Times, Sam Lister, has credited to grab the opportunity to supervise external communication and marketing. The Department of health had announced the new appointment and notified that Lister will start offering services as Director of communications most probably later this year, consequent to reliving of the Director General of communications, Sian Jarvis, during the last month. The appointment was made under the spell of provisions of the Civil Service Commission’s Recruitment Principles.
Sources have confirmed that Sam Lister will be entitles to look after almost similar affairs and carry out same responsibilities such as supervision of various campaigns organized for marketing including anti-obesity initiative Change4Life. However, his appointment is not believed to affect profile of Sheila Mitchell, the marketing head.
During the last June, the DoH had experienced a number of cuts in its marketing and communications expenditure having a strong influence from the coalition. Consequently, a DoH statement has described Sam Lister as “a wealth of experience on health policy and also extensive experience as a senior manager”.
Meanwhile, the Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley, has hailed brands in order to boost pay for public health movements
