Air Canada Staff Threatening to Go On Strike

Tensions are continuing to persist in Canada as a strike by Air Canada staff is expected to take place. However, assuring the commuters, Labour Minister Lisa Raitt has assured that steps will be taken to prevent the strike from taking place.

While addressing media persons, Lisa Raitt said that the matter would be put in front of Canadian Industrial Relations Board, quasi-judicial tribunal responsible for administering and interpreting parts of the Labour Code. It means that until the matter is at Canadian Industrial Relations Board, the staff of Air Canada won't be able to hold strike.

Air Canada is the largest airline service provider in Canada. If a strike is held then it would impact the lives of the commuters who always rely upon its services. It is uncertain as to how much time will be taken by the Canadian Industrial Relations Board to sort out the issue.

The government is taking all steps to prevent the strike from taking place. The strike would only prove devastating for the country as its economy would be hampered. It has been informed that about 6,800 flight attendants has threatened to go on strike if their demands of improving the working condition are not taken by the government.

The crew of Air Canada had previous been trying to hold strike but the strategy of the government has always prevented them from taking the action. On Sunday, to calm down the aggression of the crew, a tentative deal was passed which was abolished by the Air Canada staff.
