‘Clear as Day’, breaks all the previous sales records by selling 1, 97,000 copies in first week of its release. The songs of the album have been sung by the winner of 'American idol', Scotty McCreery.
Scotty McCreery is just 18-years-old, and has surpassed the level of popularity gained by the previous 8 American Idol winners. So far, he is the youngest solo singer in male category. His song has ranked the top position in the Billboard 200.
Earlier, Ruben Studdard, the winner of the American Idol 2003 received the topmost position at the Billboard after making a record sale of 417,000. Also, the winner of the first American Idol competition held in 2002 received the position with a selling record of 297,000 copies of her album.
The song sung by McCreery ‘I Love You This Big’ entered 11th position at the Billboard Hot 100 on May 25. McCreery, known for his deep base voice, stated that, "My hopes were just to go out there and have fun...Everybody hopes for the number one, but you never really expect it. To see it up there is pretty incredible”.
After Ruben Studdard, winner of American Idol, 2003, McCreery, who was earlier clerk at grocery store in North Carolina, is the second singer to reach the topmost position at Billboard 200 chart. Not all the winners of the contest receive acclamation and popularity. Winners like Lee DeWyze and Kris Allen failed to sustain their career in music industry for a long time.
