Chance of Becoming Father after 40 Is Bleak

If not equal as women, men also have certain age limit after which their chances of becoming father starts declining.

A study was conducted Dr. Paula Fettback, from the Huntingdon Reproductive Medicine Centre in Brazil, who found that women is held liable if she does not becomes mother, but men are also responsible for this as with an advancement in age, the quality of sperm starts declining, and sperms do not remain as active as they are when a man is in his youth. So, it is equally important for a man as well as for a woman to start thinking of family before they ring the 40s bells, if they want to become parents. She affirmed, "The contribution of female age on human reproduction is well known however the contribution of male age is not well understood”.

Decline has been witnessed as men reach 41 years, as he has 60% chance to become father, but with advancement in age like by 45 years, the chances gets reduced by 35%, and continues to decline furthermore. Paula conducted a study on this in which she took 570 IVF treatments, which were taken out in her clinic from March 2008 to April, of the same year. To avoid any complexities, she only included those cases in which egg has been donated by young women donors. Results showed that those women, who were not able to conceive, were those who had partners of higher age.

Further analysis has showed that every year, advancement after 41 years would bring man close to infertility by 7%, therefore it is a warning alarm from them to think of becoming parents. Paula said that nowadays, men prefer to become father at later age, so they have earned enough by that time, but her study would make them aware of the fact that their body would stop ticking after a certain period.
