Last night, the Proserpine RSL situated at north of Mackay has observed a public debate among delegates of two foreign-owned companies, Tully Sugar and Sucrogen, carried out in the presence of huge gathering of cane growers, more than 100. In addition, Tully Sugar had also filed its asset sale agreement, yesterday, and also purposed a $120 million bid. However, the meet Proserpine Sugar Mill Board had failed to mark its presence in the meet.
The Chief Executive of the Sucrogen , Ian Glasson, had notified that his company had lodged the final tender and claimed that the company is looking forward for better results after making its entry among participants.
"We'd love to be here and work with you to build a strong future but it's your choice and if you choose not to have us then we've got other things we can do”, Ian Glasson added further.
In addition, sources have confirmed that the members are still pending to cast their votes on the proposal suggested by Sucrogen. It is anticipated that the polling will take place on next Thursday where around 75% growers are expected to back the proposal.
In addition, Mr. Glasson admired the decision to organize the debate and claimed that it had played a role to remove the doubts and uncertainties and highlighted the vital points of the offer. Further, he claimed that the respective authorities have out their hard efforts to list the facts.
Simultaneously, he marked the growers as ultimate decision makers but expected them to go with a wise choice and said that the options are simple.
The process is believed to proceed with a slower rate, in case the growers were directed to vote on the Sucrogen proposal again.
