Experts Warns Against Increasing Osteoporosis Cases

According to reports, osteoporosis, a critical disease linked with fragile bones, fractures and tender recoveries, remains the major issue of concern for ortho health experts across the nation.

The most amazing part in the whole story is that most of the people really don't have any idea about the fact that they are suffering from the deadly illness and when they get to know about it, it becomes too late for them to recover.

All these claims came to limelight, when recently the Arthritis Foundation of India declared that gradually, osteoporosis has become the next big health worry for the country health experts, as by 2013 certainly about 36 million Indians will be suffering from these fatal bone breaking pains.

Throwing some more light on the harmful effects of the disease, a senior orthopedics consultant and joint replacement surgeon at Delhi's Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Rajeev K. Sharma accounted that from last 10- 15 years, the number of osteoporosis cases has surely become twofold.

In the meantime, the reported information also highlighted the fact that approximately one in three urban Indian women, falling in the age group of 45 suffering from the osteoporosis problem and not only women, but the country men are also not immune to the deadly disease as in their later ages, they definitely face bone difficulties.

Sharing his views about the raised issue, Arthritis Care Foundation's President, Raju Vaishya commented that if the men think that they were safe, then undoubtedly they are living with a wring myth.

He added, "Dietary habits are changing very fast. More and more people are relying on junk or processed food instead of regular balanced diet which has calcium, Vitamin D and other minerals".

On the other hand, Director, rheumatology at Delhi's Fortis Hospital, Ashok Kumar stated that four of the major reasons behind the diseases extension were extreme alcohol utilization, cigarette smoking, stumpy calcium diet and family history of having osteoporosis.
