Cancer Patients Face Shortage of Funds

It was revealed in a recent report that the shortage of finance is one common problem being faced by cancer patients these days. It has been revealed by a charity. There was a survey conducted that included as many as 1500 cancer patients and it was found that there are number of problems being faced by them like food and money.

Macmillan is of the view that there could be a lot that has to be faced by the patients due to the slated changes that are soon to occur in the Employment and Support Allowance. The government was however of the view that those in need for assistance shall still be provided with it.

The rising costs of care at hospitals and the long waiting lines weren't doing any good to anyone, but it has now specially started to have a brunt on the cancer patients who are in most need for care and treatment.

The people are spending their savings and many even have to take loans for their effective treatment. This is a very negative step for the already suffering cancer patients and their families.

Macmillan revealed that the ESA changes would put about 7000 cancer patients in trouble with £94 a week or may be worse. What is worse that they shall have to wait as long as six months, rather than three so that they get their assistance from Personal Independence Payment

"While we understand the benefits system is in need of reform, certain changes in the Welfare Reform Bill could have catastrophic effects on many families who are already struggling", he said.

It is essential here that the needs of the patients are put before the benefits of the hospitals so that they can be treated in peace.
