Experts Explore Enzyme Role in High Blood Pressure
High-Blood-Pressure

Unhealthy lifestyle, lack of physical activities as well as poor dietary habits have contributed enough to increase the incidents of a number of cardiovascular conditions in developed as well as developing countries.

High blood pressure is alone a major cause for executing a huge global population, every year. As per the available health data, the health condition cruelly kills more than 62,000 people in Australia and affects around a third people aged 65 years or less.

After concluding the findings of a recent study, Australian experts have claimed that an effective treatment of higher blood pressure has enough potential for saving countless lives, annually. During the research, they have observed that an important enzyme named as renin has an association with the health condition.

While performing the experiments, Professor Brian Morris in collaboration with his fellow experts from the Sydney University indentified hitherto mysterious responsibilities of renin to cause the lethal health condition. In addition, the Scientists have insisted that the attributes of micro-RNA molecules has caliber to weaken the enzyme fabrication. They notified highly active renin gene in hypertensive kidneys.

While explaining the research findings, Francine Marques, a PhD student, has marked it as the very first research that has attempted to explore the relation between enzyme production and high blood pressure. “As a result, no one had ever before studied human kidneys from hypertensive patients and no one has used the latest genomics technology to probe the kidney in human hypertension”, she added further.

On the other hand, an Associate Medical Director at the British Heart Foundation, Professor Jeremy Pearson, has commented on the findings and tagged renin as a major blood pressure regulator.

The experts have expressed enthusiasm that the research findings elaborating the job of two micro-RNAs will surely stimulate the research work for development of drugs to treat hypertension.
