An intimidating legal action from Apple has, in no way, deterred the beleaguered Macintosh clone vendor Psystar! Steadily working out its new products' graph, the company Wednesday released its fourth new system called "Open 3."
With the newly-introduced product, Psystar's total Macintosh product line now includes three models - two tower systems and a rackmount server. In addition, the company also offers a line of Linux and Windows Server systems.
As the name "Open 3" implies, the new product is the third model that Psystar has shipped with a pre-installed Mac OS X. And that's exactly the bone of contention between Psystar and Apple! The legal arguments being exchanged between the two companies stem largely from the question whether Psystar legally right in selling Open Computers with Mac OS X.
Psystar's "Open3" - a $600 mini-tower model - is essentially a product similar to its predecessor Open Computer. However, the larger tower chassis of the company's earlier model has been substituted by a slimline desktop chassis. The specs of the new model include a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB memory, 500GB hard drive, and GeForce 8400GS graphics card.
