Rambus Loses, Hynix and Micron Wins
Rambus Loses, Hynix and Micron Wins

Since 2004, Rambus was sincerely trying to win the legal case that the company filed against its competitors for leading a conspiracy against it, but efforts went useless as the US court that was hearing the company's case has ruled the decision against Rambus.

In 2004, Rambus filed a lawsuit against DRAM firms Hynix and Micron, alleging that both the companies have led a conspiracy against Rambus for preventing the adoption of the Rambus memory in computer systems.

Following the allegations, Rambus sued both the other companies for $4 billion, which could have turned into $12 billion with California treble damages.

But, outcome didn't come out the way Rambus thought and the case favored Hynix and Micron. In its conclusive statement, the San Francisco jury hearing the case ruled out on Wednesday that no evidence has proved that Hynix and Micron conspired to prevent the Rambus tech from gaining its support in the market.

Samsung was also among the names of the conspirers initially, but it agreed to pay Rambus $900 million through 2015 following which, its name was dropped out of the list.

On asking, Hynix and Micron denied the claims of conspiracy that Rambus had placed on them. In their statement, the companies said that the reason behind Rambus' weak performance in the market was technical errors and certain other similar factors.

"We welcome the jury's decision", Hynix Chief Executive Mr. Kwon Oh-Chul said in a statement. "The ruling drastically reduces uncertainties hanging over the company's future".

The news of the decision has certainly started doing goods for both Hynix and Micron because soon after the above results was declared, Hynix shares spiked up by 3.8% at 23,200.
