HTC Reveals Disappointment against Ruling

It has been reported that a US regulator has ruled that the technology giant has not attempted to violate graphics patents owned by the Taiwanese firm. The ruling has enabled Apple to enjoy another victory regarding its patent battle with HTC.

The case history has exposed that earlier in May 2010, a unit of the HTC, S3 Graphics that serve as a manufactures of image compression technology lodged a complaint against Apple with the US International Trade Commission (ITC). In the lodged complaint, the company accused Apple of infringing four of its patents and claimed that it is frequently used in a variety of Apple devices, such as the iPhone.

"While the outcome is not what we hoped for, we will review the ruling once the commission provides it and will then consider all options, including appeal", notified the HTC's General Counsel, Grace Lei, while expressing disappointment over the decision, although he claimed to respect ITC's decision. On the other hand, Apple authorities have strictly opposed to make any comment on the ITC ruling.

During the last week, Samsung launched a modified Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany. In a statement, the US International Trade Commission notified that Apple has not violated S3 Graphics's patent rights and therefore, decided to reject a request insisting to regulate imports of some Mac computers, iPhone and iPad. However, the commission has denied pinpointing any reason for its decision.

On the other hand, the HTC authorities notified that the company is looking forward to challenging the ruling in US appeals court that is believed to attain specialization in patent law. During the third quarter, the HTC credited to sell the majority of smartphones in the United States.
