On Monday, AT&T authorities warned its customers regarding a cyber attack and notified that a group of hackers has attempted to access the online account information. The warning frightened more than 1 million customers who have accounts with AT&T wireless service.
However, the company has claimed that up till now, the hackers have not succeeded in collapsing any account. The company authorities have notified its clients that it has identified an organized and systematic attempt to obtain information on a number of AT&T customer accounts including yours.
Experts have anticipated that the unknown users have made best use of an automated script in order to try and link AT&T phone numbers with the online login credentials and then used them to access customer accounts. "We do not believe that the perpetrators of this attack obtained access to your online account or any of the information contained in that account", added the company in a statement.
Prior to this, the company also experienced a major attack during the last year when hackers affected more than 100,000 email addresses of iPad 3G users. It has been reported that several AT&T customers across the northeastern US lost data service for around three hours, although, the AT&T claimed that this episode has no concern with hacking.
In an email to the customers, the company suggested them to remain cautious against the attack and assured that the hackers were not able to view any of the information saved in the customer accounts.
Besides warning customers, the company has also outlined policies in order to carry out necessary investigations for pinpointing the source of the attack as well as the intent. It said that the customers should be vigilant against phishing emails and text messages asking for secret information.
