Competition in mobile phone market is becoming tougher and more difficult with every day and that is merely because the companies are trying to best serve the increasing consumer demand in the mobile market.
After a long wait of many months, iPhone 4S was recently launch in the market to serve the users’ needs. And as expected, the new handset has really served well, resulting which, Apple Inc. has now taken the top spot in the British smartphone market list of October.
Not only this, Apple’s iPhone 4S has also overtaken other phones using Google Inc's Android platform.
“Apple took a whopping 42.8 percent share of all smart phone sales, giving it a significant lead over Android -- a feat many thought was impossible. With nearly a year and a half between iPhone launches there has been huge pent-up demand for a new Apple device”, Mr. Dominic Sunnebo, Global Consumer Insight Director at the firm, said in a statement.
October reports have suggested that Google's Android had 35% stake in the British smartphone market and same was also assumed by the professionals to be the indicator for the rest of Europe. For approximately 12 weeks to end-October, Android remained ahead of Apple.
On the other hand, Research In Motion Ltd. captured its 20% share, Nokia stood with 4% share and Microsoft Corp's Windows Phone platform 1% share in the entire market.
Nokia has recently, in mid-November, started selling its first Windows Phone in Britain.
Mr. Dominic Sunnebo further claimed in his statement that overtaking Android even for a month is nothing less than a victory because by many, it was thought impossible for Apple to beat Android.
