It has been reported that the sales of HTC has witnessed a plunge of 30% in the month of November. As compared to last year, the sales of HTC has fallen to T$30.94 billion in October 2011. The figures clearly indicate that the mobile market is volatile.
Soon after the launch of Apple’s iPhone 4S, Nokia and other smartphone leaders experienced a decline in its sales. HTC has also plans of coming up with new smartphones, but the consumers are least excited about it.
To put it in candid words: people are not able to see the advantages of having new HTC in front of iPhone 4S. In the past 14 months the shares of HTC has witnessed a downward slope. In the last six months, the shares have witnessed a downward slope of 60%. However today, the shares closed at 2.1% up.
HTC is going through a lot of trouble. At one side, its sales are not up to marks and at the other, it is having some legal issues with Apple. It has been revealed that the US International Trade Commission is planning to permanently ban the products of the HTC from entering into the US markets.
The two companies have been battling over the issue of misuse of technology. Apple filed a lawsuit against HTC in March 2010 for illegal using the technology of the iPhone in its product.
Apple has been dragging many firms to the court accusing them of using its technology without taking permission. The common legal suits pertain to screen touch display which enable dial pad. However, Florian Mueller, a legal consultant is of the view: “A quick settlement between Apple and HTC would be the biggest surprise in the smartphone patent wars to date. Apple won't settle until HTC brings patents to the table that presents a threat to Apple and so far that hasn't happened”.
