Pantone Says 'Tangerine Tango' to be Tops for 2012

Gray and blues have gone and now, it is trend for some more energy and boldness. We are here talking about the newest color Tangerine Tango, the reddish-orange that has been announced by Pantone on Wednesday as its top color for 2012.

Welcoming New Year with good energy and enjoyment, Ms. Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute, the research division of Pantone Inc. which creates color standards for the fashion, beauty and home industries, said in her statement that, “There’s the element of encouragement with orange, it’s building on the ideas of courage and action, that we want to move on to better things. I think it would be a disservice to go with a relaxed, soothing color now”.

Pantone’s next year’s annual forecast of the new dominant color is a decision based on the cumulative views, one, what Pantone’s thinks shoppers want and need and second, the highest influential powers that stood top on the designer runways, fabric shows, news events, pop culture and consumer habits in the year recently.

We all are very well familiar with the fact that consumer spending plays an important role in reviving an economy. Thus with similar base, Pantone has now chosen Orange as its newest color because the color gave more urgent call to action as compared to last year’s hot-pink hue Honeysuckle, or serene turquoise and optimistic yellow, she added.

Color denotes one’s emotions, agreed Mr. Beth Eckerstrom, the Director of Trend and Product Development at Crate and Barrel, and added in his statement about a color and the emotions attached to it.

Eckerstrom is definitely looking forward to having some fresh shades as her future colors.
