Apple Motorola lock horns

It has been recently revealed that a court from Germany has said that Apple is trying to acquire one of the patents on data communication by the firm Motorola. It was further said that they are doing so with the increase in the sales of iPads and iPhones.

This ruling was made at the Mannheim court in Germany and it was further added that Motorola shall be granted damages for this intrusion into security and using their technology, counted from the year 2003.

This settlement shall include a sum of €100 million, against which a bond shall be enforced. It was revealed by a European spokesperson for Apple, Alan Hely that the firm shall make an appeal against the ruling. It was further added that people in Germany aren’t having any trouble in finding the sort of Ipad or iPhone they are looking for.

This has started off another famed battle amongst mobile companies, throwing light at the pace the market is moving and how much competition currently prevails here.

With the launch of the Ipad and the new iphone 4S recently, the competition has been further triggered, and this also might be one of the reason for possible insecurities running high in the competitor firms.

For now, General Counsel Scott Offer revealed that “Motorola has been negotiating with Apple and offering them reasonable licensing terms and conditions since 2007, and will continue our efforts to resolve our global patent dispute as soon as practicable”.

They however did not get any proper response from the rival and so they had no other option but to take the matter in court. It’s a matter of time to wait and see what the court has to say in its final verdict after an appeal has been made by Apple.
