Cilantro Packs Recalled Due To Salmonella Infection

It was revealed by the Food and Drug Administration that as many as 6,141 packs of Cilantro have been sent back after there were tests conducted to reveal that they were infected with the Salmonella virus.

The distributors recalled these packs as it was found that they are affected by the virus. These contaminated cartons had already been distributed in places like Indiana, South Carolina, Massachusetts, California and Arizona, besides others. People have been informed to return their cartons, or dispose of the cilantros they purchased from outlets at these places, from the 16th of November to the 10th of December.

The source or reason for the contamination of these cilantros is not yet discovered. However the Salmonella can be particularly dangerous and cause infections that have the potential of keeping one in bed for weeks.

The symptoms one might experience due to the infection might be typhoid, enteric fever, gastrointestinal disorders and so on. It's essential that people stay fit and healthy, considering that it's the holiday season, and one doesn't want to stay in bed when they could have a great time partying with their family and friends. This is why it is essential that food is chosen wisely, so that it doesn't infect one and make them sick. Statutory warnings, manufacturing dates and nutritional information should be read carefully before buying any packed food product.

People need to be careful about what they eat as it might tend to have ill effects on their health. The Salmonella infected packs have been recalled and it has been said that investigation shall be conducted to find out the real reason for the infection so that such things don't happen in the future.
