An analysis conducted by Detroit Free Press has highlighted that Michigan's nursing homes are performing quite better than other many care homes. And maybe, this is the reasons why the nursing homes of Michigan are not closed down for poor performance.
For the analysis, the Press collected data from the US center for Medicare & Medicaid Services. In 2010, several investigations were conducted which found that 63% of the nursing homes of Michigan didn't have accident preventive measures.
However, the Federal Center, while analyzing and comparing the nursing homes of the US, raked Michigan's nursing home above average. Just 14% of its nursing homes were ranked below the average. With the pursuit of improving the health care of the elders, Ohio state government is planning to introduce a program for those elders who can't afford to pay for their own health-care bills.
There are a number of programs like Medicaid and Medicare programs, which are providing care to those whose financial resources are limited. However, the Federal Government and the State Government is planning to introduce some cuts on the funding of such programs.
The global financial crunch has hit the US so hard that in the past few months about 2,800 jobs at Ohio nursing homes have been eliminated. The cuts imposed over the hospices are being directed towards funding the care homes.
It has been felt that care quality given to the residents of the nursing homes is falling significantly. Therefore, it is deemed to be necessary to provide adequate funding to the care homes so that elders residing in there could be provided with the needed care.
Besides, the spread of diseases in the care homes is also on high in the US. Methods are being designed to fight the spread of diseases in the care homes.
