The case of the third smallest baby ever born has been capturing the interest of one and all as it has been found that the baby was born too early beyond the expectations. Instead of December 15, Melinda Star Guido was born at 24-weeks at Los Angeles County Hospital on August 30.
Weighing as much as two iPhones, the baby took one and all by surprise. Though the baby is now 4.12 pounds, doctors are taking good care at the hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
For many, it’s hard to even imagine the baby in the first look. “All the nurses were saying that she was really feisty, she was always fighting for her life”, said Melinda's mother Haydee Ibarra, who feels that her baby was supposed to live. The baby had seen enough since the day she was born and who better than her father could tell about this. It has been told that the baby was only 9 1/2 ounces when she was born at 24 weeks over the summer. So far, she has been at the neonatal intensive care unit of the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, and doctors are taking good care of the miracle baby.
There are chances that the baby girl would be able to see the nest year with her family at her place. All is being done to send the baby home with her family soon. There is no doubt that the baby had certainly beaten all odds to live, there is need for parents to be extra careful for the girl as she could have developed low immunity.
“The first three or four days, I was worried if this baby was going to make it”, said Dr. Rangasamy Ramanathan, chief of the neonatology section at County USC Medical Center.
