Trial Over Personalized Treatment to be Conducted Next Year

With the pursuit of providing personalized treatment to patients, the doctors have planned up to unlock the genetic code of thousands of people. The initial steps of the plan will be taken by the doctors of Mayo Clinic, located in the US.

It has been informed that as per the plan the doctors would be recording the genetic code of the people and will be providing them treatment accordingly. The whole process will take place next year. For long it was believed that genomes of people can help doctors in prescribing best and effective treatment to patients.

However, it is for the first time when doctors have decided to take the initiative of providing personalized treatment to patients. The doctors of Mayo Clinic are hopeful that through their efforts the side effects of treatments over patients can be minimized.

Gianrico Farrugia from Mayo Clinic is of the view that if their efforts prove fruitful then the personalized treatment would bring revolution in the way treatment is provided to patients. Gianrico Farrugia was reported as saying, “We are convinced that whole genome sequencing is going to radically change the way we practice medicine. The question is, how do you change the practice of medicine... Ok, we accept it's a great thing, let's do it”.

The trial would be a vast one as the doctors would be recording minute details of every patient like their eating habits, sleeping habits etc. personalized treatment would no doubt be beneficial for those patients who are suffering from multiple health complications.

It has been informed that patients taking part in the trial would be provided with information pertaining to their genetic risk factors. Besides, doctors would be keeping a track of the effectiveness of prescription pills over the patients.
