Massachusetts Reports First Case of Human Rabies in 75 Years, Patient Critical

In a shocking revelation, it has been confirmed that a Cape Cod man is diagnosed with potentially fatal disease rabies. The infection is likely to have been carried from a bat, though final report is yet to come out. The victim in his 60s is in a critical situation in a hospital.

"The Department of Public Health is awaiting confirmation from the (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) CDC regarding the species that infected this Massachusetts resident", said state health officials, who are of the view that there are more chances that the infection has been carried from bats.

While the identity of the man has not been revealed, all possible measures are being taken to save the man who is told to be hospitalized once he was diagnosed with the fatal disease.

Earlier this month, there was another report of a middle-aged woman who was told to have died after being diagnosed with human rabies. It has been told that the infection is usually passed on through the saliva of infected animals. The virus initially attacks the central nervous system, which further exaggerates the condition to a near death. There is need to give the desired level of attention to this concern else it could cause significant damage to others also.

People must not overlook potential symptoms including fever, headache and general weakness or discomfort and mist consult doctor immediately. It has been even told that any infected person must get himself checked from a doctor and all suitable steps in the same regard must be taken.

If reports are to be referred, it has been found that in the United States, One to three human rabies cases are reported each year , and the maximum threat is from rabid bats only. There were causalities of 55,000 due to the same every year in other parts of the world.
