New Year celebration time at Denver Marriott was highly disturbed by the chaos that started among the New Year guests at the hotel on noticing that their room keys suddenly stopped working when the clock struck midnight.
The malfunctioning of the keys locked the guests out of their rooms until 3 am.
Facilitating approximately 628 rooms in its premises, Denver Tech Center Marriott accepted that the incidence occurred due to the room key malfunctioning that kept guests troubling till 3 in the morning.
No immediate reason was known by hotel authorities behind the non-working of keys, confirmed General Manager Ms. Jennifer Atkins who said that the hotel got to know about association of malfunctioning to the year change later.
The malfunctioning of keys spoiled the entire New Year mood of the guests. Moreover, fights also broke out among the locked-out guests and those who got sick in the hallways. Key card problem forced many people into the lobby, whereas many more had to spend their night sleeping in the hallways.
No confirmations have been received from Atkins regarding the occurrence of any fights or health problems in the hallways. Hotel officials are still finding out the cause behind the malfunctioning as no key card problems aroused at any other Marriott in the region.
As the inconvenience caused due to faulty working of keys, Denver hotel has refunded the payments guests had submitted for the rooms. Regarding the incidence, Ms. Jennifer Atkins, the hotel's general manager released the statement: "We are sorry for the inconvenience this caused and are providing the night's lodging free of charge to all registered guests".
