Doctors to Receive Bonus for Helping Federal Government in Saving Money

It has been reported that the doctors of Colorado, who are helping the Federal Government in saving money by providing treatment to as many as 30,000 Medicare patients, would now be offered with bonuses. With the approval of the US Physician Health Partners, a new health care reform, dubbed "Accountable Care Organization", has now being introduced in Colorado.

It is believed that through this strategy, the performance and coordination of health care providers would improve. It has been informed that as per the new changes, medical professionals who come up with brilliant plans of saving money without sacrificing the quality of the health care would be given an opportunity to get a share from the savings.

It is an initiative taken with the hope of encouraging medical professional to come up with creative plans of saving health care from facing bankruptcy. With the pursuit of improving the health care system, the Physician Health Partners (PHP) is installing new software which will keep a tab on hospital discharges and follows up with patients.

Dr. Alan Lazaroff said that by avoiding overdosing for patients and readmitting patients to hospitals, we can ensure improvement in the quality of care being provided to patients. Lazaroff is hopeful that the strategy would help the health care system in providing cost effective treatment.

He said: "Five years from now, I would hope that the entire payment system is different. If you can free up people so they're not a gerbil on a wheel all day, and produce healthier patients, everybody will win". It is hoped that the results of the measures will be in favor of the Federal Government.

There is no doubt that the plan would encourage doctors, nurses and health workers to do their best in providing care to patients. Moreover, the patients would also be immensely profited by the plan as they will be provided with utmost care.
