It appears that Dell is determined to bring out its smartphone, despite the prototype of its device failed to impress the US wireless carriers. According to reports, the wireless carriers were reluctant to show interest in the prototype of the Dell's smartphone, which forced the company to go back to its lab to rework the device.
However, this could not damp the spirit of company. In his speech in Tokyo on Tuesday, Michael Dell gave the strongest indication that his company is working to develop a mobile Internet device or smartphone.
Michael Dell said, "It is true that we are exploring smaller screen devices. We don't have any announcements to share today but stay tuned as when we have new news we will share that with you."
Dell added, "For the last three years we have integrated 3G radios into our notebooks. We already have agreements with many mobile carriers around netbook devices so it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect that we would have smaller mobile Internet devices or smartphones in the future."
The US media reports say that Dell is working to develop a smartphone that will run software from Microsoft and Google. Dell's phone will compete with the Apple iPhone and Research In Motion's BlackBerry. However, the Round Rock, Texas has not yet officially admitted that it is working on a smartphone.
