There is no doubt that the economic downturn has affected one and all in some or the other way and this is what is being felt even by the workforce. There are nearly 30% employees who overlook their body's call to grill themselves in office. This is revealed in a study involving 1,600 people aged between 16 and 24. The kind of uncertainty which prevails in the working culture nowadays has made one over-conscious about his job security. However, this makes companies cost minimum £15 billion a year.
It was also found that those who are under the high risk category are those who having income less than £20,000, and then those between £21,000 and £30,000, with between £31,000 and £50,000, at the bottom of the risk chart.
"This is bad for business. At Nuffield Health we work with more than 1,000 corporate clients to help them maintain a healthy workforce", said Marcus Powell, the Managing Director at Nuffield Health who is of the say that there is potential link between health of employees and profit book of companies. Perhaps this is what has made companies more concerned about the overall health of their employees.
There is need to understand the growing trend that a major section of the working force is not paying much attention to their health. Despite doctors' advice to take sufficient attention, most of the employees are seen working day in and out. Even the report made it clear that there were nearly 85% who despite being sick joined their office last year and many are expecting to follow the suite this year also.
If talking about gender, it was found that women are found to more into overlooking their health as compared to their counterparts. While the economy is facing a tough time ahead, it would be worth seeing how working culture would change in the time to come.
