It has been recently revealed in a report that despite the possibility that the people who are vulnerable with low immunity and suffering from cancer already are at a high chance of suffering from Tamiflu, the actual consequences of the same are unknown for now.
The Health Department is currently of the view that it can be said so far that an antiviral will surely benefit those people who have a weak immune system and are suffering from vulnerability, and are at the risk of the disease.
The effects of the antiviral drug are under the shadow, and there were questions raised about the manufacturing firm Roche having held important information about the drug. So for now the health department is only saying it is good for use, not stating what is actually going to b be the effect of the drug. This sort of tricky condition means that there might b something that is still under the covers and there is need for a detailed investigation to be done in this regard, before the drug is given out for public use.
"We cannot be certain whether the trial evidence supports the conclusion that (Tamiflu) reduces complications. Nor do we understand if and how (Tamiflu) changes immune response, and important questions about its mode of action remain", said the experts analyzing the drug.
They further added that the long clinical study of the drug, which hasn't been gone through so far, might hold answers to the many queries people have about the drug.
It was revealed by Dr. Fiona Godlee, the BMJ editor in chief, that there is still a long way before the final result on the worth of this drug can be given out.
