Meningococcal B Vaccine Successful

It has been recently revealed in a report that a strain of Meningococcal Serogroup B vaccine has been found to be successful in Chile. The name of the vaccine is (4CMenB), and it has proved its worth, after the lot of speculation that was going on for a while.

The new study has claimed that two doses of this vaccination, in a time period of about 1-6 months, tend to be really helpful for warding off the effects of the disease. The study was conducted by Maria Elena Santolaya, MD, from the Department of Pediatrics, University of Chile in Santiago, together with her colleagues. It was revealed in `The Lancet'.

"The development of a broadly protective vaccine against meningococcus B has been a longstanding challenge in order to provide more comprehensive protection against the most common pathogenic meningococcus. In this context, adding a meningococcal B vaccine as a standalone or eventually combined vaccine", she said.

At present, there are vaccinations available for other strains of the disease, but there wasn't a vaccine available for the B strain so far. This is a huge breakthrough and it might soon e responsible for saving thousands of lives each year. The authors of the study have further added that the actual worth of the vaccine shall be revealed only after it is tested on various geographic dispositions. It's a matter of time before this is done and this drug would soon be available for use of the general people.

There is need for a further detailed investigation and trial on people to be done before the final verdict n the safety and affectivity of the drug is done. Only then it could be commercially available for use in the markets.
