It has come to light that teenagers who are facing unwanted pregnancy are unaware of the usefulness of contraceptive pills and condoms. There is a myth among the teens that they can’t get pregnant by having sex for the first time.
The teenage pregnancy is already causing havoc in many countries. It is necessary to bring awareness among the teens so that the unwanted teenage pregnancy cases could be dealt with. Recently, a survey was conducted over 5,000 teenage mums who became pregnant from the year 2004 to 2008.
During the survey, the mums of teenage mothers were also questioned. It was found that not only the teenager mums are living in a bubble but their mothers are also unaware of the fact that contraceptive pills and condoms are necessary irrespective of the age.
During the survey, it was brought to light that only 20% to 24% of the total teenage mums used the contraceptive pills and had safe sex. However, about 13% of the teenage mum didn’t use any as they found it hard to get them.
The problem lies in inadequate awareness. Girls are required to be aware that the contraceptive pills and condoms are necessary to avoid unwanted pregnancy. It has further come to light that many of the girls don’t use protection because of their partner’s pressure.
Therefore, strategies are required to be formed to deal with the growing menace of teenage pregnancy. Teenage pregnancy is neither healthy for the girl nor for the baby. Having safe sex can assure overall growth of the couple and gives them time to settle down in their life. Pregnancy should be planned as any unplanned pregnancy can bring lots of trouble to the family members of the couple.
