It has been recently revealed that the miracle child born in Los Angeles has been finally released from the hospital. It was in August last year when baby Melinda Star Guido arrived in this world, about 16 weeks prior to her due delivery date.

She was merely 9.5 ounces when she was born, which is roughly the weight of 2 iPhones. She had to spend about 5 months in the neonatal care before she was finally declared fit to go home. Besides this, it was also revealed that she is the third smallest baby in the world to have survived.

The mother of the baby, Haydee Ibarra, who is 22 years old, is excited to see her daughter finally coming home. The parents had been really worried all this while, not knowing whether their baby would be able to survive.

“This doesn't happen every day. In my 30 years here, ... this is the first time it ever happened that we were able to discharge a baby who weighed less than 400 grams, or 300 grams”, said Dr Rangasamy Ramanathan, neonatology chief at the LA County-USC Medical Center.

He further admitted that he wasn’t sure whether the girl would make it, as even surviving a few days after her birth was looking tough. This is a milestone for the hospital as well, because it means that there are now such advanced technologies in neonatal care that they can save such children who are born way ahead of time.

It is essential to note that most children who are born so premature tend to succumb in the few days after their birth, mainly because their bodies are not completely ready to be in the world. It’s a huge success for the parents as well as the hospital, and the miniature baby is now completely happy. Everyone’s wishing her a healthy life ahead.
