Yesterday, T-Mobile rolled out its new high-speed data device – webConnect USB Laptop Stick that helps connecting your laptops or notebooks to T-Mobile’s wireless network. The WebConnect Laptop Stick connects your laptop computers to T-Mobile 3G network and Wi-Fi.
The webConnect USB Laptop Stick, manufactured by China's Huawei Technologies Co, is a small, portable modem that gets you connected to Web on your laptop computers through T-Mobile's 3G network or Wi-Fi.
The webConnect USB Laptop Stick comes with built-in T-Mobile Connection Manager software that makes it capable of automatically detecting the best availability of Internet connection. Offering tri-band 3G connectivity (HSDPA/UMTS 1900/AWS/2100), the T-Mobile device is also compatible with networks overseas. The device is compatible with GPRS/EDGE networks, in the areas where there is no 3G coverage.
The WebConnect Laptop Stick can also work as a portable storage device, like the AT&T USBConnect Mercury. It has a microSD/SDHC expansion slot that support up to 8GB cards. It features a swivel USB design and measures 3.5 inches tall by 1.1 inches wide by 0.4 inch thick and weighs 1.5 ounces.
The T-Mobile WebConnect USB Laptop Stick is available in select T-Mobile retail stores and online, from March 25. The USB Laptop Stick is available for $49.99 with a 2-year contract, for $99.99 with a 1-year contract, and for $249.99 with no contract. The $59.99 service plan gives you 5GB of wireless data per month. You will be charged an overage fee of $0.20 per MB, if you go over that limit.
