It has been recently revealed that there is a new rare flesh eating disease, found in a patient in Manawatu. It has been revealed by the MidCentral District Health Board of the vicinity that the name of the disease is necrotizing fasciitis. There haven't been too many details given about the disease.
It was simply revealed by Dennis Geddis, the Spokesperson for the board that all that can be confirmed for now is that this is the first case they have had in the past three months.
"All we can confirm is we have had one case in the past three months. Other details about the patient regarding the timing and circumstances are confidential because they will breach privacy issues around that patient and lead to their identification", he said.
This is actually a bacteria infectious disease, which tends to result in the destruction of the soft tissue. The disease Necrotising Fasciitis usually tends to infect those people who have had surgeries and there might even be the need of sometimes amputating limbs, so that the infections tends to remain contained and doesn't spread any further. It was further revealed that according to an assessment conducted by the team from Otago University, there has been a recent rise in the number of cases of the disease.
Such rise in cases of the disease in New Zealand will tend to exert a lot of pressure on the health environment of the vicinity, and there is dire need for marking a change.
The disease tends to have a high mortality rate, because it tends to damage a lot of soft tissues. His tends to spread rapidly in the skin as well as on the throat, and this is what makes it all the more dangerous.
