A campaign has been launched to make people aware of coeliac disease. It is believed that a large category of the population is suffering from the syndrome and is unaware of the fact. The disease is an illness in which the immune system does not accept the gluten.
A person suffering from the disease may show symptoms of stomach cramps, feeling sick, weakness and headaches. It is necessary to get treatment at the right time as any delay could further put the health to risk.
At present, no cure of the disease is available. However, one is required to follow a strict diet plan so that the agony of the disease could be avoided. It has been informed that the intestine of the patient suffering from the coeliac disease does not observe the adequate nutrition.
The patients with other health complications like weak bones and diabetes can have severe consequence if they develop coeliac disease. It is estimated that about half-a-million of the UK population is suffering from the diseases and are unaware about it.
Therefore, the need of the hour is to make these people aware of the disease so that the adverse outcome of it could be avoided.
Chris from charity Coeliac UK said," Many people are afraid and put off finding out if they have something wrong with them. But as someone who wasn't diagnosed until I was in my 60s, I had already incurred damage to my gut which led to osteoporosis".
A parson affected with the coeliac disease would never be able to eat in the restaurants. The patients suffering from the coeliac disease should consider having healthy food only which is rich in protein, vitamins, nutrition and is free of gluten. It is hoped that through the launch of the campaign many would be made aware of the coeliac disease.
