Safety Fears Force Maker to Recall 2,200 Tubes of Aveeno Baby Lotion

As per recent reports, it has been revealed that Johnson & Johnson on Friday announced that it is willingly summoning up a lot of its Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Lotion, as an assessment carried out recently by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has revealed that it was containing more sorts of bacteria than permissible as per its tagged specifications.

In this regard, the company released a statement of Friday, wherein it claimed: "That test indicated that the lot exceeded the specifications for common bacteria, though extensive testing by an independent laboratory afterward did not show that specifications were exceeded".

But still, the statement further revealed that the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc. has willingly instigated a recall of a single lot over safety suspicions, though no complaint of any harm done by the use of the alleged product has been reported till date.

It clearly implies that the recall is a precautionary move more than anything else, and reveals the bonafide trait of the company that has forever been against making any sort of compromise in terms of quality of its product. The recall is not inspired by any kind of negative report or events, and the prospects of any kind of adverse impacts on the health of its users are fairly remote.

The company recognized the bacteria as "Coagulase-negative Staphylococci" which, as per the maker, belongs to the family of bacteria present naturally in our surrounding environment.

"These are common bacteria often found on the skin and scalp of babies and adults, and found in commonly used household and cosmetic products, at very low levels," the company statement said. It did not release the amount that was detected.

The lot of the product recalled by the company is embossed with the number 0161LK on the tube, and the distributers have informed that it was distributed in states of Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Kansas, Tennessee, Texas and Mississippi.

Apart from the immediate recall, the company has made an appeal to its users that they are free to avail a refund in case they bought the product belonging to the stated lot, for which they can dial 877-298-2525 for further information about refund.
