Men More Likely to Commit Suicide than Women, Says Irish Study

As per an Irish study, which compared men and women on different parameters like health, education and employment, men are more likely to die by suicide and road accidents in compassion to women.

The Central Statistics Office’s Women and Men in Ireland 2011 study found that suicide rates among men were four times high than women, and the rate of deaths due to road accidents was three times more among men than among women.

The reports revealed that 3865 men took their lives in comparison to 100 women in 2010. Another thing that was revealed through the study was that youngsters have the maximum suicidal rate. The report revealed that among all age categories, the 15 to 24 year age group was the most pronounced in terms of suicidal deaths and road accident deaths.

The recent trend noticed that more women are leaving the country, and it has happened for the first time since recession in Ireland. One place where men won over women was in the number of hospitalization.

More women were found to be hospitalized in comparison to men. The official data revealed that 1,000 women got admitted to hospitals in 2010 as compared to 365 men. Many new incites were revealed through the reports, which found that men are ahead of women when it comes to mental health. Women were found to be more susceptible to depression and are unable to tackle mental pressure well enough as compared to men.

When it came to parenting and earning, it was revealed that though the trend is changing and women are stepping out of their places to earn, majority of women are still looking after their house and are taking care of families and children.

It was further revealed that men have to face more rejections at work than women, and the same trend was being followed when it came to unemployment.
