A novel US study has revealed that urge of checking status updates and surfing on the social network sites is quite strong than the urge of having alcohol and other tobacco products. The study that was taken out from the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business in America is said to be one of its kind which was done which urge was stronger among the both.
The study, which got published in the Psychological Science journal, was headed by Dr. Wilhelm Hofmann. He told that they enrolled more than 200 adults who were asked to wear electronic devices which monitored their daily desires.
From there, it got revealed that more than any urge, social media habit was the most difficult to control for volunteers. Hofmann told, “Modern life is a welter of assorted desires marked by frequent conflict and resistance, the latter with uneven success”.
Another thing that got revealed from the study was that the people face difficulty while having sleep. After doing research, it got revealed that this happened due to the fact that the people are unable to maintain balance between work and rest. This tension creeps at the time of sleep and poses difficulty for them to have undisturbed sleep.
Hofmann shared that people try to curb their urge to use social networking sites during the day. However, it gets difficult for propel to control their willpower by the end of the day and they are not able to resist themselves to get logged on at night.
The craving to have alcohol and tobacco products is the least in their minds, said Hofmann. He further affirmed that the next two things for which they crave for is good sleep and sex. It shall however be noted that urge of both stood nowhere to the desire of getting online.
