It has been reported that extra nurses would be posted at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital in just one week. As many as 17 nurses would be taking up jobs at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital. It has been informed by the NSW Health Minister, Jillian Skinner, that as many as 2,163 new graduate nurses and midwives would be recruited all over the state.
This year, an additional 500 number of nurses would be recruited as compared to last year. Mrs. Skinner said, "Our hard-working nurses and midwives are central to the strength of our public health system and I am pleased to announce today's record number of positions".
Increased staffing would no doubt lead to improved health care services. Many patients would be benefited by the additional recruitment of the nurses. In the past, many incidents have brought up in which the shortage of medical staff has led to poor treatment and recovery of the patients. It is being believed that through the adequate staffing would help the hospices to continue to provide effective services.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the cancer patients and the GPs would be allowed to use a particular website which would inform them about the best possible health treatments and the places from where the treatment can be got.
The website has been launched by the Cancer Institute NSW. The site, Canrefer. org. au, provides information about the radiation, oncology, chemotherapy, palliative care and cancer genetics units as well.
The website would prove beneficial for those who find it hard to locate health clinics near to their residence. The opening hours of various hospices and their parking facilities would also be highlighted by the website. It is hoped that many would be benefited by the website.
