It has been recently revealed that the Vancouver Island Health Authority has announced that it is very much serious on resolving complaints being made by nurses working at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
There are 19 incident reports which have to be looked after by the VIHA. Some of the many concerns being raised by the nurses include missed meal breaks, extreme work pressure and fatal consequences of overtime, increased waiting lines and lack of staff members.
The VIHA officials told that though they are trying to address each and every concern of nurses, they found that the matter has been exaggerated. As per them, if there is any concern then nurses should discuss it immediately with boss, and if she does not get positive response then should file a complaint with the Professional Responsibility Report Forms.
The form is quite elaborative which contains a section of general information which has certain clause such as problem in detail, name, date and ward. Other additional factors that are present in the form are suggested remedy, provided remedy and the cause of failure.
Once the form gets completed, its copies are circulated to employee, supervisor, committee chairperson and the director of nursing. They go through the form and a meeting is called to address the issue.
There are chances that immediate bosses and health managers may mind this activity as an employee now has another way to get his problems resolved. B. C. Nurses' Union said that it is the best and effective way to address the problems.
The BCNU officers told, "The BCNU has been trying to do education for the managers, to show it's a collaborative process".
